Five tasks to digital spring cleaning

1.      Email Inbox Organization

  • Average people receive more than hundred emails per day. Many of those email users have multiple email accounts like work and personal emails.  That could take some time reviewing each one.
  • Archive or delete emails not needed, add tags, create email folder system that applies to your situation.

2.      Declutter your social media accounts

If you have one or more than one social media account. You should delete the ones you barely use and keep the social media account that makes you happy or you the ones that you find entertaining.  If you have social media account for work, then you should only use the accounts that your customers use.  There are so many messages, images, comments that it is hard to keep up with multiple platforms.

3.      Social media Organization

List all platforms you use and the reason you use each account. Don’t forget to include the value you get from each account.  Delete the account that does not make you happy.

Set limits for social media as notifications can be distracting and addictive. Dedicate times where you don’t use any social media or your phone and times where you check all accounts.  This discipline will improve your life happiness. Reduce notifications and time on apps by turning off notifications on your phone to reduce the number of times you check your phone.  You can hide your apps deeper in your phone so that you do not immediately see the apps and be inclined to check them all.

4.      Clean browser bookmarks

Organize your bookmarks, delete the ones you don’t need, and create folders to navigate when needed.

5.      Organize your computer

Organizing your computer will create happiness as this is a type of digital style “Spring Cleaning”. Create folders for work and personal use.  Ensure they collate with the appropriate topics. Having an external separate drive to hold all files is the best way to keep your files organized as the space on your computer is not utilized.
